Task analysis is a good way for identifying problems and opportunities to improve the user experience but also to generate preliminary ideas for the design. This tool consists in a diagram explaining the steps that a user must take in order to complete a goal. This diagram depicts the actions taken by the users (or some system) to help them achieve their goals but also the personal, social and cultural experiences that users bring to the tasks and the influence of the physical environment.
